Keeping YouR Home on a Firm Foundation

Cracks, bowed walls, sticky doors, and uneven floors can all point to serious foundation problems. Left untreated, they’ll only get worse. At Tomlinson Cannon, we’ve helped Eastern Iowa homeowners restore their homes’ strength and stability for decades with proven, engineer-designed solutions.

We are nationally certified foundation specialists, installing systems that meet international building codes and have stood the test of time.

Wall Stabilization

Anchoring system

Our wall anchoring system reinforces failing foundation walls with minimal disruption. We insert high-strength rods through your basement wall, anchored deep underground. These anchors not only stop movement – they can even straighten bowed walls over time, with simple adjustments done by the homeowner using a torque wrench we provide.

Steel I-Beams

Steel I-Beams can be installed inside foundation walls to restore structural integrity without exterior excavation. Secured with steel brackets at both the footer and floor joists, the beams transfer pressure to stabilize walls against tipping, bowing, and shearing. This versatile, non-invasive solution ensures long-term stability for a wide range of wall issues.

Carbon Guard

Carbon Guard uses ultra-strong carbon fiber straps, anchored at the top of the wall and into the foundation, to stabilize walls against tipping, bowing, and shearing. Stronger than steel, this low-profile solution is maintenance-free, corrosion-resistant, and can be painted or hidden behind finished walls, offering a subtle, durable repair without any outside excavation.

Settling Foundation

A settling foundation can lead to uneven floors, cracks in walls, and other structural concerns that compromise the safety and value of your home. With decades of experience addressing these issues, Tomlinson Cannon has helped countless homeowners stabilize and restore their foundations efficiently and effectively. To tackle settling foundations, we offer two proven solutions under the Grip-Tite® brand: the Helical Pier System and the Push Pier System. Each system is designed to provide long-term support and prevent further movement, giving homeowners confidence and peace of mind while protecting their investment.

HELICAL PIER SYSTEM

Helical piers are used to repair existing structures. The helical flights are geometrically spaced along the shaft to provide minimal disruption of the soil as they are installed. A foundation bracket is then connected to support the failing foundation, or specified terminations are connected to the installed shaft to support new foundations.

Following the installation of the Grip-Tite® Helical Pier System, your foundation will be stabilized, supporting your home as it was originally designed to. This stabilization may also help reduce cracks in mortar joints, and improve the ease of opening and closing windows and doors.

PUSH PIER SYSTEM

The Grip-Tite® Foundation Push Pier System is used to stop or prevent foundation settlement. The system uses steel tubes that utilize the weight of the structure to hydraulically advance the piers to bedrock or other competent load-bearing strata.

Following the installation of the Grip-Tite® Push Pier System, your foundation will be stabilized, supporting your home as it was originally designed to. This stabilization may also help reduce cracks in mortar joints, and improve the ease of opening and closing windows and doors.

Floor Stabilization

Sagging or flexing floors over a crawlspace or in a basement are unsightly, an irritation to live with and can be hazardous. Cracks within the floor itself, gaps between the floor and the baseboard trim, and a visible slant or bow are common symptoms. Not in all cases, however frequently, the floor will make creaking and cracking sounds when walked over.

The Grip-Tite® Crawl Sapce Stabilizer acts as a supplemental support system leveling and stabilizing existing support beams and floor joists.

The Grip-Tite Stabilizer levels and stabilizes existing crawl space support beams and floor joists with minimal disturbance to surrounding areas. A crawl space stabilizer works by providing the floor with additional support from below. It consists of a heavy-duty, adjustable steel column that is adaptable to slab or precast block installations and can support vertical loads greater than 60,000 pounds.
