- Saves landscaping
- Ecologically sound
- Clean
- Completes in less than a day
- Can fill voids
What are the differences between mudjacking and foam (polyjacking)?
There is a lot that is the same between both methods. They are both less expensive than concrete replacement and much quicker. Both use a similar technique of “jacking” up the existing concrete by pumping a material underneath the concrete slab. Here’s a summary of how they differ:
Mudjacking | Polyjacking | |
Material | Natural mix of agricultural products (portland cement, lime, water). Fully cures in 24 to 48 hours. | Polyurethane foam (similar to styrofoam packaging). Fully cures in 30 minutes. |
Installation Hole Size | 2½” | ⅝” |
Fills voids and open spaces? | Yes | No |
Permeable to water? | Due to weight, compression and ability to fill voids mudjacking prevents water from getting under the repair surface all together. | Poly is not permeable but it does not fill voids, so water can still erode the soil under the repair surface. |
Ecologically sound? | Natural materials will not harm vegetation or animals. | Risk of inhibiting vegetation growth. |
What concrete repair method is best for you?
Both are good options if you would like to repair and reuse your concrete rather than replacement. Either way, you will save money and time over a full replacement.
